Announcement on the intervention of a mafia ”safehouse” in Exarchia
On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, after a close watch, a mafia coil, who acted undisturbed in the neighborhood of Exarheia, we proceeded to the intervention of an abandoned house, which served as base of that gang.
This gang had drawn our attention for several weeks before and after testimonies of comrades and residents of the neighborhood of Exarheia, we decided to intervene drastically, thus putting an end to their actions, which was taking place against the political struggles that have been given here for years in Exarchia.
This particular gang is responsible for a lot of robberies of all kinds in the square, passers-by from Exarchia streets, as well as grabbing of bags etc from political spaces and events. It is also responsible for the daily destruction of cars , as well as for drug trafficking in the square , and the surrounding streets. Finally, it is responsible for many attacks on comrades , who have been passing through some streets, usually after midnight.
The imposition of authoritative attitudes for personal gain can not be tolerated in the liberated and historic neighborhood of Exarcheia. Particularly in times when the self-organized spaces, occupations, and people fighting on the street, against repression, try every means to be tarnished by the state and its paid communication mass media, our reaction, was, is and will be immediate.
The self-defense and the re-empowerment of Exarheia and our everyday life, within them, are made with everyday presence and struggles.
After about six months of almost daily interventions, along with comrades , and despite all the dangers that this action may bring about physical integrity or possible targeting, we clearly state that we will continue to struggle for a better tomorrow by taking our lives in our hands.
Defending the freedom and self-organization of our lives, as well as the area’s anti-suppression and mafia tactics …
